First dates in St Helier
Key facts
| Best for | Weekday lunches and easy daytime meet-ups |
|---|---|
| Getting there | Liberation Station, the main bus station, is by the Weighbridge, and most of town is walkable. |
| Budget | Low. The market and the bay walk cost only what you eat and drink. The museum has a paid ticket. |
| If it rains | Jersey Museum opens daily from 10am to 4pm in November and December, and the Central Market is under cover. |
St Helier is small enough to do a whole first date on foot. You can meet at lunchtime, walk for a bit and both be home without a lift. These three ideas are public, easy to leave and good for talking.
Lunch at the Central Market
The Central Market and the Beresford Street fish market are open Monday to Saturday, 7.30am to 5.30pm, all year. Pick up a coffee or lunch from one of the food stalls and find somewhere to sit. It is busy and public, right in the middle of town.

Walk the bay to St Aubin
The route round St Aubin's Bay runs 6.3 km from the Visitor Information Centre in St Helier to St Aubin's harbour. It is flat and easy and takes about an hour and a half. Buses 12, 12A and 15 run back to town, so either of you can head home when you are ready.

An hour in Jersey Museum
Jersey Museum, Art Gallery and Victorian House is at the Weighbridge, next to the Royal Yacht Hotel. It opens daily from 10am to 4pm in November and December, apart from the Christmas closures. The island's story gives you plenty to talk about, and you are back in town in a minute.
